Unstuck Your Driver Recruiting Process

Whether you’ve been in the driver recruiting space for years or if you’re just getting started, you’ve tried out countless processes and strategies trying to ‘get it right.’ But what does this really mean?

Succeeding in the driver recruiting space consists of more than just getting drivers on the road. It’s all about building lasting, mutually valuable relationships with your drivers to keep them around long term.

Unfortunately, it’s way too easy to get ‘stuck’ in these processes, especially if you’re trying out multiple options to find the best scenario for your team. You can be testing out a strategy or idea, and then, almost too quickly, the team is too far down the wrong path where issues and problems can arise.

If you find yourself in this position, here are a few ways to unstuck your driver recruiting process:

  • Identify the root cause of the issue. In any situation, it’s hard to identify a solution if you don’t know where things went wrong. If your process is stuck without any clear course forward, take a step back. Work backward from the issue at hand to pinpoint precisely where the issue occurred. Knowing precisely what is happening, where the issues are stemming from, and what other problems are occurring from this root cause can help you plot out a resolution.
  • Plot out the next steps. Once you know what is wrong, it’s time to develop a solution. Your steps towards a resolution could be as simple as looping a team member into recruiting conversations or even automating a notification email to ensure manager visibility. It could, however, be much more complex and require a complete reconfiguration of internal processes. Regardless of the scope, plot out your next steps all the way through before starting any action plan to ensure you are on the right path from the beginning.
  • Make sure all stakeholders are on board. If you are working to unstuck a team-wide process or strategy, your entire team must be on board with the resolution. This means dedicating the time and effort to introducing the team to your new process, training stakeholders on any new strategic initiatives, and tracking the process to ensure things are working smoothly. If, at any point, your resolution starts veering off course, refocus the initiative to stay on track.

Putting new processes into place and finding the best strategy for your driver recruiting team is something that can take time and effort to do correctly.

Luckily, the right technology and resources can help you get there faster – with less ‘stickiness’. With DriverReach, driver recruiting teams can be more focused, operate on a more driver-focused level, and, ultimately, be more successful in their recruiting efforts.
